According to General Motors, the new 2012 Buick LaCrossee with eAssist typically spends just 14 days on dealer lots before being sold. That’s an impressive average that speaks to the demand for the LaCrosse’s unique light electrification technology.

Many LaCrosse eAssist early adopters are attracted to the sedan’s EPA-estimated 36 mpg fuel economy rating. Considering the LaCrosse’s size, that’s an admirable figure. GM also suggests that eAssist technology allows the LaCrosse to satisfy a full range of buyer needs, including comfort, space and highway fuel efficiency.

“For the space in this car, 30 mpg is amazing,” said Steven Radomski, a recent LaCrosse buyer. “I could have bought one of the new diesels on the market, but the fuel costs more. When you do the math, it’s an obvious choice. And my LaCrosse is working as advertised.”

The LaCrosse with eAssist features a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine and a six-speed automatic that’s mated to a small electric motor which aids acceleration. Energy that’s captured through regenerative braking technology allows the engine to shut off completely while the vehicle is stopped without disrupting driver comfort and entertainment systems. Recently, Buick’s eAssist system was named among Popular Science’s “Best of What’s New 2011.”

“LaCrosse eAssist is a highly efficient sedan that doesn’t compromise on the refinement that comes standard on every Buick,” said Brian Sweeney, U.S. vice president of Buick and GMC Sales and Service. “Getting 36 highway mpg is great, but what’s better is that customers won’t have to give up style, passenger comfort, or the car’s great suite of technology features.”
