Tesla has released footage of the beautiful Model S cruising silently down rural roads. This Alpha model is still a ways off from production, but it gives us an exciting picture of what’s to come. So far, Tesla’s Peter Rawlinson says the Models S is on track for reaching production in 2012. But first, significant testing is still underway. The Alpha model in the video below is about 80 percent finished. Components that are nearly production-ready include the suspension and elements of its subframe. However, a range of electronic systems are still being refined. Pricing for this all-electric sedan will begin in the high $50,000 range.
